Biography

Dr. Khansari received his BSc (software), MSc (hardware) and PhD in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 1996, 1998 and 2008. He has more than 20 years of executive and research experience in IT, including directing the national Free/Open-Source Software (Persian Linux) programme, presiding over the IT Research Institute and later the Iran Telecommunication Research Center (ICT Research Institute), heading the University of Tehran's IT Center and founding the country's first specialised ICT science and technology park.

He held a DAAD research fellowship, chaired three editions of the International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST) and has spoken at more than 60 national and international events, including UN forums in Geneva, Tunis and New Delhi. He has supervised over 60 graduate students, written or translated six books and published around 100 papers, and founded the interdisciplinary programmes in Networked Systems Engineering and Network Science and Technology.
